Digging into my own creative drives is something I could do for hours, and that’s after already doing it for hours multiple times, either writing about it or podcasting about it or conversations about it.
At first I wanted to change the world but the digger I dug the more I discovered all other kinds of things driving me. I feel much different relationship to art now.
I never heard solarpunk before. I’m a little allergic to labels but I like it!
I feel you! I just read “What Will I Look Like Untangled?” so I get what you mean by labels & that’s something I have often struggled with. However, I try not hold them at to highest degree & with all the extra connotations connected to the world. To me, “solarpunk” is just a collection of themes that can be expressed at different level.
Some ways I practice embodying them now is reflected by learning to garden & grow food. Giving, sharing, & trading with neighbors and those in my network. Making things more mutually accessible. I’m still growing into it and it’s not always easy but I believe it’s worthwhile.
Those are generally the kind of communities I gravitate towards though I don’t really grow anything myself. If I could get into a good rhythm where work and art aren’t at odds with each other I will though!. I’ve found a few communities in East Asia so let me know if you are ever around 🙃
